10" block
Cut 6-2 7/8" squares background
Cut 2-2 7/8" squares color 1 (lt or med)
Cut 5-2 1/2" squares color 2 (med or dk)
Cut 4-2 1/2" squares background
Cut 2-4 7/8" squares color 1 dk
 
15" block
Cut 6-3 7/8" squares background
Cut 2-3 7/8" squares color 1
Cut 5-3 1/2" squares color 2 (med or dk)
Cut 4-3 1/2" squares background
Cut 2- 6 7/8" squares color 1 dk
 
To construct block:
using color 1 (lt or med) squares and 2 same size background squares, construct 4 half square triangle units. They should measure 2 1/2" for 10-inch block and 3 1/2" for 15-inch block. Cut remaining larger background squares diagonally in half making 8 triangles.
 
Construct corner units by sewing background triangles to half square triangles making a large triangle. cut the large color 1 dk squares diagonally in half making 4 large triangles. Sew pieced triangles to dk triangles making a square unit as shown.
 
 
Sew the color 2 squares and background squares to form 4 rectangles.
 
Assemble in rows as follows:
Corner unit|rectangle|corner unit
Rectangle|color 2 sq|rectangle
Corner unit|rectangle|corner unit
 
Note: ENSURE COLOR 2 SIDE OF RECTANGLE IS TOWARDS THE OUTSIDE OF THE BLOCK AND COLOR 1 DK TRIANGLES POINT TOWARDS THE CENTER.
